TEENS/ADULTS TAEKWONDO

Our teen/adult program is for ages 13 and up. We have one of the largest adult programs in Hawaii. And many of our students are in their 30s, 40s...even 50s. Our student, Michael Balderas, at age 56, received his second black belt in Martial Arts, his first in Taekwondo. He is also one of the most fit adults on the island. Check out Michaels' biography .

Taekwondo is booming for adults ages 30-60, because they are reaping the benefits of Taekwondo just like the kids. They're losing weight, regaining flexibility, letting go of bad habits, and getting healthier than they've been in years. What's motivating these young at heart martial artists to join Taekwondo?

One big reason is health. As people get older, metabolism slows down, weight creeps up, depression, laziness and melancholy sneaks in. Hereditary health conditions like high blood pressure, diabetes, cancer, frail bones and obesity will become an issue, especially if a healthy diet has not been practiced. Taekwondo is becoming a popular way for adults to change bad habits and start new and healthy lifestyles.

There's also the social reason for starting Taekwondo. It's a great way to meet new people and create lasting friendships. There's even Taekwondo competitions that are specifically designed for the 33 and over crowd. They are a lot of fun and a great way to meet and make friends from all over the world. Also, the crowd cheers for you whether you win or lose for being a "young at heart" warrior.

Finally, there's the big reason to join Taekwondo with your kids, "Families that kick together, stick together". Taekwondo brings family members closer together through encouragement, motivation and support for each other. There is no greater benefit than that.

We have great potential for wonderful changes at any age.The good life does not end at 40, 50, 60 or beyond. The good life continues as long as we choose to make life good for ourselves. See you in class!!
